Valentine's Tea Party

Hi friends,

Yay it's the weekend again! So excited to kick back and take it easy. We have the boys' birthday party on Sunday so it won't be a total slacker weekend but I am determined to not overdo it and take things as they come.

Today, I am sharing some pretty ideas for a Valentine's tea party. I am a tea lover. I don't get all British and proper about it but I do enjoy a nice cuppa. These tea cups and fancy accouterments would make for the sweetest little Valentine's get together.

And so it begins

Hi friends,

Just a quick post today as its been another busy day. I've started dreaming about updates I'd love to make to our new place. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are going to be house poor so these will have to happen very slowly over time (if ever).

Bathroom Updates

What do you think? Any updates you'd recommend?

Front Exterior View

Hi friends,

So now that we have a new place I need to get packing. Assuming all goes well with the house inspection, we move in 2 months. So much to do! Anybody have a recommendation on where to get boxes for packing? I usually hit up the LCBO but I need some bigger boxes too.

I thought I'd share some pics of the outside of the house today. These are of course from the summer (and the real estate agent). Things look a lot snowier today.

One of the things I'm most excited about is actually having proper landscaping. Our current house has pretty spring flowers but we never had a chance to do fancy stone landscaping like this new place.

I wonder if they'll let us keep the bunny?

And the most exciting part of all of this? There is no grass to cut in the front! Now - we just have to keep the plants alive. This will be no small task given my track record. Sorry little plants - your new gardener is a forgetful (sometimes lazy) waterer.

Anyways.,..I leave you today with this amusing item ( a little wrong I know but it made me laugh):

I might be house poor

Hi friends,

It's on. We sold Casa Marshall. We still have a house inspection before we waive our conditions on the new house but things are looking good. Can't really believe it. I am not going to fully celebrate until it all gets formalized but one thing is certain. We are moving. It's just a matter of where at this point. If you are just tuning in, here is a link to pics of the potential new place.

We only got one offer on our place but it was $2K under asking and no conditions so we took it. It's good to be done. And for the new place we got a pretty amazing price (we never thought we'd be able to afford something like this but it actually came down into our range so we jumped).

I have to make this a quick post because its been a long, long day but I leave you today with some ideas I'm pondering for the hallway in our new house.

I'd love to do something glamorous like this:

Or how about this gold number. It's to die for.

And finally this stunning floor to ceiling mirror with a modern crystal chandelier

Do you have one that you like best? I think I love them all. Can't wait to start pulling the new place.

Bedroom thoughts

Hi friends,

Hope you all had a magnificent weekend. We had two open houses and some viewings so things were busy around here. Our real estate agent said our neighbours really liked our place....so I guess the open house was successful. Neighbours curiosity satisfied. check.

I am allowing myself to think about what I might do with the new house - but just a little bit as nothing is certain at this point. We find out tomorrow night if there are any offers. I think it will be fine either way. I don't mind if we don't because it will take some pressure off of us. Either way it will be good to have it over.

In terms of thinking about the new place, I've really been thinking about the master bedroom. Currently, our bedroom looks like this:

I have wanted to paint out the yellow forever and go with a bolder dark blue but it hasn't happened. If we get it, the new bedroom would look like this:

I am just not sure the slopped walls can handle a dark color so I am thinking about a simple white. This would give me a lot of flexibility to bring in some colorful bedding like this:

Or some serene bedding like this:
source: Target

What would you do? Any suggestions?

Not too much longer!

Not my main bathroom

Hi friends,

So far we've got 26 showings booked on our house. We are hoping that this translates into at least one offer on Monday. Today, I am sharing pics of my downstairs bathroom. They turned out well I must say. Probably better than the actual bathroom looks ;)

This is the photo that my real estate agent used on mls. From the outside, one would probably assume that this is the main bathroom. Not so my friends. It's the basement bathroom. The main bathroom on the 2nd floor isn't nearly as lovely. But you wouldn't know unless you toured the house or read this blog post.

I am slightly obsessed with bathroom design. I have a huge pinterest board of all my dream bathrooms. Something spa like would be amazing. I am so looking forward to having my own bathroom. The house we have a conditional offer on has a master ensuite. But I will eventually want to change it up to my tastes.

I leave you today with these amusing items (it was this kind of day today - I suspect an ice age is coming):

And this fun bathroom idea board, I've been playing around with:
