Reveal: Boy's Room Accent Walls

Happy weekend everyone,

Things have been busy, busy, around here. But I do have some snaps of the accent walls and new light in my son's room to share.

Here is what the room looked like before:

Not terrible at all but this was the previous owner's decor and we wanted to put our stamp on the room. Also, in this pic, the walls look brighter than they actually were. The walls looked tan colored and darker most of the time

Here are some pics of how the room looks currently:

Notice the funky new light. It's from my Swedish friends at Ikea. It opens and closes which gives us all much delight to watch. Here it is open:

 The wall colors are are:

  • Benjamin Moore Bold Blue
  • Benjamin Moore Chic Lime
  • Benjamin Moore Gray Owl

Still more work to go:
I leave you today with this:

Random midweek thoughts

Hi friends,

So glad it's almost Thursday and the weekend is close again. Today I have some random findings and musings to share.

1. This summer hostess gift idea has captured my interest (easy, stylish, and unique = perfect)

2. Are you a tea lover? I am. Coffee no. Tea yes. And lots of it. Lately David's Teas have caught my attention. This Canadian company is everywhere these days and their teas are just delish. I am especially loving the 'Currant Affair' flavour with black currants and Rooibos. It's heavenly.

Do you have a favorite tea? Do tell

3. Lavender is my passion. I am always on the lookout for lavender flavored foods and beverages.

This lavender soda water (only 25 calories!) is simply the best

lavender ice cream and macaroons are my kryptanite and these cookies look divine:

4. Have you noticed the buffalo design trend or is it just me?

5. This room is to die for - especially that simple, modern bird print

I leave you today with this amusing (but not particularly safe) idea:

Sneak peak: Benjamin Moore Bold blue

Hi friends,

The painting continues. Sadly, this is the last week before the paintathon wraps up. The only rooms remaining at this point are the boy's rooms.

And we're going bold with them. A different color on each wall for my younger son's room. We've started with Benjamin Moore Bold Blue on the inside wall.

Here is a sneak peak:

I've got tester pots of the following colors and if all goes well by the end of the week we should have some bold results.
 Benjamin Moore - Chic Lime

Benjamin Moore - Gray Owl

And for my other son's room I'm planning to use this color combination:

Benjamin Moore - Stongington Grey

Benjamin Moore Citrus Orange

If you can't have fun with a kids room, where can you?

Closet Peak + Bunny Grey Guest Room

Hi friends,

Hope you've all enjoyed the weekend and done some relaxing. The weather was just absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for better. We devoted some time to my tennis obsession, barbecued and hung out in our new back yard. After having a postage stamp of a yard in the old place, I am still marveling at having our own little oasis in the city.

We are definitely noticing that the new location is busier though. Summer in our area brings tourists and the added foot traffic and cars parked in front of our drive take some patience and getting used to. It's not as bad as it sounds but I do wish we had more seclusion. I guess its a trade-off for the convenience of being able to walk to the local amenities.

And now it is Sunday night, the most dreaded night of the week. When the weekend is done and I am left wondering, where did it go? It seems like Friday night was just here and the festivities were kicking off.

To cheer things up a bit, I am sharing more progress on our upstairs. Every little step forward means that I can look a the things I love rather than the things I want to change.

My amazing husband painted our guest room Benjamin Moore Bunny Grey. As a reminder, here is what it looked like before:

The picture makes it look better than it was. Trust me. The room looked very dark most of the time. And as mentioned previously, I am not a tan walls kind of girl. Here is what it looks like now (sans furniture):

You may recognize the paint color from our previous dining room. I just loved that paint color and had to find a place for it in our new home.

The plan is to move the bed, bedding, lamps, and night tables from our master bedroom into the spare room. Then I get new ones! Brilliant I know :)

I also wanted to share a quick peak at some organization I am very proud of. Our upstairs closet has been transformed from mud brown and stinky to painted and organized. Several boxes of baking soda and some cute bins later, and I am a happy girl.

What do you think?
